Neale has worked as the company’s chief executive since 2005 and will continue in this role.
Before first joining New Hope back in 1996, Neale worked with Esso Australia and Exxon Coal and Minerals Co over 23 years.
He has over 40 years experience in exploration and mining industries in several countries, covering the coal, gold and base metals sectors, along with synthetic fuels, bulk materials and shipping.
International Longwall News understands that previous managing director Graeme Robertson had not been at the head office for a period of up to 12 months.
New Hope chairman Robert Millner recently said the company’s New Acland mine had remained one of the lowest-cost export coal mines in Australia.
The company expects to commence further coal-to-liquids research and development testing for its Acland coal in a few months.
