The extension to the terminal will ramp up coal export capacity from 25 million tonnes per annum to 50Mtpa and is anticipated to be completed around mid-2010.

The upgrade construction is underway by an alliance of John Holland SMP, RPG Australia and BlueScope Steel.

PCQ has plans for more upgrades to the terminal with the X80 expansion to increase export capacity to 80Mtpa and the X110 expansion to boost capacity to 110Mtpa.
