He was promoted after a year of acquisitions for Coffey Mining, which saw its profits rise 82%.
Yeates said he was looking forward to the challenge of continuing strong growth.
“It’s great to be invited to serve in this honorary position and to see the recognition of Coffey Mining’s performance over the years,” he said.
“This is a further opportunity to contribute towards growing Australia’s MTS [mining equipment, technology and services] exports, which already represent a significant and expanding sector of the Australian economy.”
Yeates joined Coffey from RSG Global after a 2006 merger, and was promoted to strategy manager in 2007.
