The Ampcontrol Group established itself in South Africa in 2008 with an operation on the outskirts of Johannesburg in Wadesville.

Formerly known as Fermlec Allenwest Wallacetown, Ampcontrol Africa acts as the main point of sale for all Ampcontrol products in Africa and plans to invest capital to expand the operation’s manufacturing capabilities.

With a strong market base in the overhaul of flameproof equipment, Ampcontrol plans to expand this offering to include its internationally certified lighting, and monitoring and control safety products for mines.

Products such as the iMAC, IS LED Lighting System, Gasguard, Methane Analyser Monitoring System and VoiceCom will be installed as part of the recently won contract.

Ampcontrol has recruited an executive manager and product manager to support its African operation.

“Ampcontrol Africa will serve as our South African and Sub-Saharan nucleus with a commitment to the local community in which it operates,” Ampcontrol chief executive Dr Alan Broadfoot said.

“Our investment is not only in the manufacturing capabilities of the operation, it is also evident in our commitment to recruit the best people to support the operation from South Africa – people who know the products, the industry and the community.”
