In April last year Sedgman won the $A50 million contract to design and construct the CHP for the expansion of the Bocamina power station in the coastal city of Coronel.
Sedgman managing director Mark Read said a force majeure declaration was made to protect the company’s position until the project site could be accessed and inspected.
“Until we can get access to the site we are unable to determine what, if any, damage has occurred,” he said.
More than 400 Australians were in Chile when the quake hit, according to AAP, but there are no reports of any injuries to Australians at this stage.
The quake was further than 100km from Coronel and has claimed more than 700 lives.
Sedgman shares are down 4c this morning to $1.51.
