The two-locomotive train was on the way to Werris Creek when it derailed on Saturday morning, damaging 120m of track.
An Australian Rail Track Corporation spokesperson told ILN today the rail line was reopened with a temporary speed restriction of 20km per hour along the repaired section.
With no coal deliveries over the weekend, yesterday Port Waratah Coal Services estimated total coal export losses of 570,000 tonnes when including the impact of scheduled maintenance.
“The derailment has resulted in an estimated throughput loss of about 419,000 tonnes, with the scheduled track and loader work resulting in a loss of 151,000 tonnes,” PWCS said.
The port operator said vessel-loading operations at both its terminals ceased on Sunday once portside stocks had been exhausted.
