A five-year ICG veteran, Snavely will now report directly to company president Ben Hatfield. He will be responsible for all of the producer’s mining operations as well as corporate oversight of compliance performance and safety efforts.
Snavely previously held several senior level management positions for ICG, including oversight of planning, acquisitions and responsibility for West Virginia and Northern Region operations.
Prior to joining the company, he was president of James River Coal subsidiary Bell County Coal. A graduate of Virginia Tech, Snavely also served for 17 years at various facilities within the AT Massey Coal portfolio.
ICG has also promoted Gary Patterson to the seat of senior vice-president for operations. He will now report to Snavely and oversee the producer’s complexes in West Virginia and the Maryland Region.
Patterson, a Michigan Tech graduate, joined ICG in 2009 as president and general manager for the ICG Beckley operation, the company’s new metallurgical mine in West Virginia.
Prior to that, he worked for 15 years with AMVEST WV Coal, the last 10 of those years in the position of president.
Also now reporting to Snavely will be Scott Perkins. While he will continue to serve as ICG’s senior vice-president for operations for the Kentucky Region, his duties have been expanded to include the producer’s operations in Illinois.
ICG currently has 13 active mining complexes: 12 are located in northern and central Appalachia and one is in central Illinois.
