The sensor devices are classified as passive, providing a direct connection to existing intrinsically safe circuits or to Trolex monitoring equipment.

“The sensors effectively monitor using simple switching and digital sensors in instances that do not demand expensive analogue sensors,” the company said.

The new range is made up of several basic switches for non-contact position detection and limit switching.

The TX1004 heavy-duty magnetic proximity switch features a large operating distance and operating magnet choices, allowing for machine positioning, counting and proving.

Isolated magnetic reed output contacts mean no power supply is needed. An integral terminal box with larger terminals results in a robust switch that is protected from water and dust to international protection rating 57.

According to Trolex, the switch is compatible with the company’s TX1080 operating magnet.

Either one or two galvanically isolated output contacts with an operating distance of 60 millimeters nominal with a TX1080 magnet can be chosen.

The TX5533 Ferro Proximity Switch is also part of the new range. The heavy-duty switch is activated by a ferrous metal object with one galvanically isolated output contact.

“The TX5533 detects the position of moving machinery metal components for positioning and counting – for example, machines, haulages, vehicles, rolling stock and brakes,” the company said.

The Bistable Proximity Switch is TX5534, designed for heavy-duty applications and sensitive to the TX1080 operating magnet’s movement.

Galvanically isolated contact sets as the magnet passes, then resets as it returns, for vehicle counting and zoning, ultimate limit and overtravel detection.

Finally, Trolex has added the TX5535 Inductive Proximity Sensor to respond to the presence of any metal actuator with a standard solid state NAMUR configuration output.

The sensor has been designed to directly interface with all Trolex monitoring devices, and features a precision limit detector for counting and speed monitoring of toothed wheels.
