Johnson new VA Eimco Australia GM

Former Powercoal boss Dennis Pomfret has quit as general manager of VA Eimco (Australia). The company, part of the global Sandvik Mining & Construction group headquartered in Sandviken, Sweden, said Pomfret had left to "take advantage of other business opportunities".

Eric Johnson, who has worked with Sandvik for about 35 years — most recently as general manager of the Australian Minerals and Ground Tools division, has been appointed general manager of VAEA. Apart from his long association with Sandvik, Johnson has lived for 40 years in the Newcastle area. VAEA is based at Tomago, near Newcastle.

"Our aim under Eric's leadership will be to continue in our efforts to supply increased service and support levels at reduced costs," said VA-Eimco global president, Ilkka Hakala.
