Making the announcement on June 18, DBT Australia’s CEO Andrew Richmond and CFO/COO Dr.Ulrich Noll, said the move was necessary to realign the company’s activities with the mine closures in the Hunter Valley over the last year.

“By ensuring the viability of the NSW operations DBT will be able to sustain the product innovation and level of customer service which is required to satisfy our customers,” Richmond said.

Other changes will see the Longwall Shield and Conveyor Equipment Business (new sales and after sales) focused under the one roof at the DBT Rooty Hill facility. The new Capital Business and After Sales support for Shearer will be consolidated into one facility in DBT Argenton.

Announced at the same time was the appointment of Paul Mulley as national general manager, responsible for all DBT Diesel and Development Equipment. Bob Sherack has been appointed as national general manager Customer Service, responsible for implementing an improved Customer Care strategy to improve the Life Cycle Management of DBT’s equipment in operation at each mine.

Richmond said that over the last year, DBT has invested substantial resources into new products and technology in order to maintain its market competitive position.

“For example last year, the EL3000 Shearer, the 30MB3 Continuous Miner, the FBL- 10 and the FBR -15 Coal Hauler were developed and introduced into the Australian coal industry. These products have also been developed for the export market with some success already in China,” Richmond said.
