The TRACKER system tracks active tags carried by personnel or attached to vehicles, in zones, underground.

The tags are small radio transmitters that transmit to beacons placed strategically throughout the mine. As a tag, or tags, pass a beacon they are read and the information transmitted back to the main database PC which allows the current whereabouts of personnel and equipment to be known as well as the history of their movements.

MST says TRACKER is designed for both coal and metalliferous mines.

“The TRACKER System was developed following the increased need to control the access of people and equipment in areas of the mine, particularly with the principle of duty of care guiding mine operators,” the company says.
