The move to become AMS means the company now has the support of procedures, systems and technical backup from the Anderson Group.

AMS have been operating under the Anderson Group since the start of December 2003.

Joining the group has meant an increase in support staff and more expedient quoting. Steps have also been taken to streamline the management structure.

Traditionally Elgin has specialised in support services for mine consumables with strong growth in mine ventilation equipment. The new AMS has been marketed to the longwall industry as a one-stop shop for all areas of the mining process except operating face equipment.

“We supply everything from rated ventilation devices, pods and various mine consumables to secondary support installation, belt maintenance and ventilation installation using blast rated and engineer rated stoppings and seals.

This can all be carried out with the range of quality personnel employed by Anderson Mine Services,” said sales coordinator Allan Busk.

Busk said AMS plans to position itself to take advantage of the demand by mines for the services of contract companies that can cover a wide a range of tasks. This enables the mine to keep track of one company instead of the time consuming task of gathering reports from a multitude of companies.

Currently AMS are working at North Goonyella and various mines throughout Queensland and are submitting tenders to a number of mines. They also currently hold a Forward Purchasing Agreement with Anglo Coal’s Capcoal Mines.
