The banks replace HSBC Precious Metals Australia and Fortis Banks as Gympie's principal bankers, while Investec Wentworth has been appointed as its financial adviser.

"The Mizuho/Investec consortium, together with the receivers-managers Ferrier Hodgson, are reviewing all options with respect to the operations at the company's Southland coal mine and the Gympie Eldorado gold mine," Gympie said.

As a result of the change, Peter Geroff of Ferrier Hodgson has announced the sale process for the Gympie Eldorado gold mine and its stake in exploration junior D'Aguilar Gold has been put on hold while the new bankers undertake their review.
