Burggraf to head up Colorado operations

CHUCK Burggraf has been named group executive of Peabody Energys Colorado operations.

He will have responsibility for the Twentymile Coal Company's Twentymile Mine near Oak Creek and development of additional coal reserves in Colorado, and will have responsibility for the Seneca Coal Company's Seneca Mine near Hayden following a transition period.

Burggraf, who most recently served as operations manager of the Twentymile Mine, is a registered professional engineer with 26 years of mining experience in a variety of senior safety, engineering and operations positions, including 16 years with RAG American Coal and predecessor companies.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville. Burggraf reports to Peabody Energy president and chief operating officer Gregory H. Boyce.

The Twentymile Mine in Colorado produces approximately eight million tons per year of low sulfur steam coal that serves customers in the Western, Midwestern and Southeastern United States as well as Mexico.

Twentymile is perennially one of the largest and most productive underground mines in America. The Seneca Mine produces 1.5 million tons per year of steam coal that serves the nearby Hayden Generating Station under a long-term contract.
