The plant is owned by Datang International Power Generation (DIPG), and will be the first large-scale coal-fired power plant in the Fujian province, currently dependant on hydropower for nearly half its power generation.
Using PlantWeb and its asset management software (AMS Suite), the Datang Ningde plant will have networked automation and process control, able to gather information from HART protocol field devices and use “predicitive intelligence” to detect and avoid problems.
“We are pleased to continue our relationship with Emerson and are eager to apply their advanced automation and control technologies to a project that is so important to this company and this region,” said DIPG supervisor Liu Shuli.
Recent droughts in the area have highlighted the need for alternative sources of power generation. The Datang Ningde plant will use four 600MW units running on “clean coal technology” and able to operate with elevated steam temperature and pressure.
China’s total demand for power generation control systems has an estimated worth of $US120 million, and is currently experiencing double-digit annual growth.
