The 29-year-old victim, David Morris Junior, was standing beside his shuttle car when it was hit, Associated Press reported.

The mine is located in Eastern Kentucky, near Cumberland.

Friday’s fatality brings the total number of miners killed in US coal mines in 2005 to 22.
