Last week Rhiannon joined the two Muswellbrook miners to launch a campaign to “expose the damage being caused by the expansion of the coal industry in the Hunter Valley”

The two Mt Arthur coal miners, Peter Kennedy and Graham Brown, on Friday showed Rhiannon a number of coal mine sites in the upper Hunter.

Rhiannon said coal mine expansion was impacting on local residents visually and through noise and dust pollution.

Of particular concern to the Greens was the proposed Mt Pleasant mine near Muswellbrook.

Rhiannon has been a vocal campaigner against coal mining in the Hunter Valley, protesting that no new coal mines should be allowed in the region.
