Palaszczuk, who was first elected to State Parliament in 1984, served as Minister for Primary Industries from 1998 to 2005 and as Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Water since that time.

“Over the last 12 months, I have enjoyed working with the mining industry to strengthen its already record performance, as I have enjoyed working with stakeholders across the State on the sustainable use of our land, vegetation and water resources,” Palaszczuk said.

Palaszczuk acknowledged the support of his Cabinet and Caucus colleagues and paid tribute to the professionalism and tireless efforts of the many public servants in the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries and the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Water to implement and administer policies in these areas.

“In the same manner, I have enjoyed a positive relationship with stakeholders and the media,” he said.

“As the Member for Archerfield and Inala, I have worked hard to ensure the needs and aspirations of the community were heard and acted upon by government. Our Government's investment in the electorate, particularly through community and urban renewal programs has produced a bustling, community-orientated region. It certainly has given the local area a new beginning.”
