Queensland Resources Council chief executive Michael Roche said the realignment of the minerals and energy portfolio under a single minister was a positive outcome for Queensland.

“The sector is in the midst of an exciting expansion period, tempered by acceptance that sustainable growth relies on both careful planning and the effective delivery of supporting services and opportunities,” Roche said.

“We must be careful to avoid short-changing Queensland in the long term by under-investment now in the physical infrastructure and human services in demand throughout regional Queensland,” he said.
