To be held March 19-22 in Brisbane, the four-day engineering level training course is suitable for engineers employed in the design, operation and maintenance of belt conveyor systems, from graduates with a few years experience, through to experienced engineering and maintenance personnel.

According to course presenter Edmond O’Donovan, knowledge gained at the course can be used not only in the design of new conveyor systems, but also with the operation or maintenance of existing conveyors.

The course will cover:

Belt width and velocity selection

Conveyor power demand

Belt sag

Drive traction

Information on conveyor arrangements

Belt, idler and pulley selection

The training was originally developed and presented over several years by David Beckley from WA’s Conveyor Design Consultants. As of November 2006, courses on the east coast will be presented by O’Donovan.

O’Donovan has more than 20 years experience as a conveyor engineer and has worked on many large systems around the world, both surface and underground.
