This boasts the light output of a standard 55-watt halogen light, yet consumes just 22 watts of power.

The design makes for a good fit on both battery-operated units and on vehicles where the alternator is already heavily loaded.

It is also compact, measuring just 112 millimetres high by 112mm wide by 58.4mm deep, so even small vehicles and those with tight mounting areas can put it to use.

The Power Beam 1500 LED work lamp’s light output of 1300 lumens is produced by six high-performance LEDs, each with a 16,000-hour lifespan. Protection from overheating and minimal temperature buildup at the lens, however, means the lamp is safe to touch.

The lamp also does not hold back on lighting power. Light output is at a color temperature of 5700K, very similar to daylight, and for the user that means colors are more distinguishable to the human eye in the dark and eye fatigue during night hours is reduced.

“The beam is homogeneously distributed through a specially developed multi-faceted reflector to create an excellent lighting pattern for a workspace,” the company said.

The Hella Power Beam 1500 LED is available in several configurations, including either close-range or short-range illumination and stainless steel trunnion bracket or pendant mounting.

All models, which have been designed for tough operating conditions and strong vibrations, are watertight and dust-proof sealed to IP 6K7 and can also stand up to high pressure washing.

Each unit has an operating voltage of 9-33 Volts and can be used with both 12V and 24V systems. They feature polarity reversal protection, an LED fault bypass and protection against EMC interference.

The LED fault bypass or LED error recovery ensures the function of the work light even in the unlikely case of an LED failure.
