Miner badly injured at Indiana coal mine

A COAL miner has been badly hurt at a southwest Indiana mine, authorities say.

The man became trapped beneath mining equipment on Monday morning, suffering life-threatening injuries.

Colleagues were able to free the distressed miner and get him back to the surface at the Black Panther Mining site in Knox County.

Emergency crews treated the victim at the scene until he was taken by rescue chopper to an Indianapolis hospital.

The miner's name is yet to be released.
