Valued at $290 million, the site includes a new substation and a 132 kilovolt transmission line to link the site to the Nyngan-Cobar transmission line. The site covers 250ha of land 10km west of Nyngan. Once fully brought online in the next few months, it will produce enough power to run 33,000 homes annually. At present, half of the site is operational and delivering power.

Funding of $166.7 million was provided by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and $64.9 million was provided by the NSW government. That money is being used for both the Nyngan Solar Plant and the 53MW Broken Hill Solar Plant, which is expected to be complete by November.
