In his new role, Fairweather is responsible for HDR’s ongoing operations and continued growth in the Australian transport, mining, industrial and waste markets, as well as growing the business into new markets.

Prior to joining HDR, Fairweather held a national position with a large consulting firm where he oversaw one of the largest highway consulting teams in Australia.

His expertise is based on 25 years of working to deliver infrastructure projects across Australia including holding senior roles on signature projects such as the Ipswich Motorway Upgrade and the Moreton Bay Rail project.

HDR’s director of global operations John Scales said it was the combination of Fairweather’s first-rate technical expertise with his extensive history of working in Australia that made Mark the right fit for HDR.

“Our philosophy is to adapt our company to the locations where we live and work, not adapt the location to our company,” he said. “Mark knows our clients and their needs and the needs of our communities. On top of that, he knows how to build great teams. His insights and way of working will help us expand our capabilities and the services we can offer our clients.

Fairweather said: “I’m passionate about bringing together unique skills, knowledge and expertise that drive innovation and results for our clients.

“I look forward to connecting our Australian team members with HDR globally to create lasting benefits for our clients and communities.”
