The data acquired pertains to drilling and associated geological investigations by the Electricity Trust of South Australia in the 1970s, the then owner of the Leigh Creek coal field.
The new data has highlighted the upper coal seams as a possible source of additional in-situ gasification suitable coal at the deeper parts of the upper coal seam, which had previously been discounted.
It could lead to a repositioning of some planned drilling.
LCE hopes to have its first test results and resource model completed before year’s end.
