The 3.5 million tonnes per annum haulage contract starts up in July 2012.
Pacific National is contracted to haul more than 20Mtpa of AAMC’s coal next year.
“Anglo American Coal was looking to add further flexibility to the rail haulage approach supporting their portfolio of mines in the Goonyella system,” Asciano managing director Marks Rowsthorn said.
“The result is a performance-based contract that provides Anglo American with the ability to maximise their rail haulage plans by mixing and matching their mine and port haulage requirements.”
Pacific National has 10 trains operating in the Goonyella and Blackwater rail systems and another six train sets will be deployed in early 2012 to meet contracted tonnage exceeding 49Mtpa.
The rail company won a 10.9Mtpa contract to freight coal from AAMC’s German Creek rail facility in mid-2010, with this haulage to start from January 2012.
Asciano shares are down 1.5c to $1.585 this morning.
