The release is a new option for long-haul overland conveying, designed to carry material for greater distances and on higher lifts. In fact, the company says, it is capable of moving more material further than any other belt, in a single flight, in history.

The belt can carry 10,000 tons per hour at the height of New York’s Empire State Building (1250 feet/381 meters) in a single flight, or convey material overland 25 miles in a single flight, according to Veyance worldwide technical manager Terry Graber.

“The heart of the Flexsteel ST10,000 is the splice,” he said.

“With a belt of this magnitude, it’s all about making sure the steel-cord splices will hold up in service. We’re the only belt manufacturer with development capabilities to test splices in-house at these high tensions.”

Veyance, formerly known as Goodyear Engineered Products, credits its two-pulley dynamic splice tester for the ability to advance splicing technology that meets the demanding standard set by DIN 22110, part 3.

“This gives Veyance conveyor belts a huge competitive advantage in heavy-duty mining and other highly demanding applications,” Graber noted.

The Flexsteel ST10,000’s splice design has been confirmed at more than 50% dynamic splice efficiency using the company’s tester; an evaluation at its Marysville, Ohio, Conveyor Belt Technical Center proved the ST10,000 to be the highest tensile strength belt in the world.

The product’s longer flight capability also allows for mines to span further distances without transfer points, resulting in less maintenance to the overall system as well as less degradation of the material. Decreases in dust, noise and chute blocking also equate to a reduction in capital costs for operations.
