Featured in the emergency system will be details about a 96-hour underground test involving 16 coal mines, as well as a Strata Inflatable Fresh Air Bay.

The test carried out by Strata Worldwide and the China Coal Comprehensive Utilization Group was conducted at an active Chinese mine in May.

Strata Worldwide vice-president of engineering John Reinmann said the test was the largest of its kind in the world at the time it was done.

“All life support systems were used as intended and each system performed exactly as designed to meet stringent requirements,” Reinmann said.

Also on display will be Strata Worldwide’s new proximity detection system, HazardAvert.

Reinmann said when HazardAvert detected a person or vehicle in a defined zone around an operating machine, the system would emit an audible and visual warning.

In addition to the HazardAvert, the company’s latest changeover station will also be on display.

The AIRDOC allows miners to exchange self-contained self-rescuers during an emergency by enabling the removal of their SCSR in a safe environment and to replace it with a new SCSR from the rack.

AIMEX visitors will be able to interact with the AIRDOC as it is fitted with a Draeger quick-fill station and self-contained breathing apparatus.

Strata Worldwide will be at stand 6111 during AIMEX, from September 6-9.
