The MIM Holdings-operated Newlands mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin has produced 5.1 million tonnes of coal from December 1998 to November 1999. Longwall production totalled 4.7 mt for the period. The past two months have brought outstanding results with longwall production for October 1999 alone coming in at 711,000t, while November saw 695,000t of longwall coal produced.

General manager Mike Ryan said the excellent production results were attributable to careful planning and management of people.
