DBT recently received an order to supply a monorail system to Enex Resources’ United Colliery in the NSW Hunter Valley.

DBT said the mine needed a lightweight, high strength rail which was able to carry the heavy D.C.B.

“The DBT Scharf monorail system is widely used in Australia due to it’s reliability and design advantages over other systems,” said a DBT spokesperson. “Some advantages being installation platform, belt structure storage module, rail storage modules etc etc. The cable and hose handling system is customized to carry whatever the customer requires and the open and closed lengths maximized to ensure the longwall can be operated efficiently and safely.”

DBT also received an order from MIM’s Newlands colliery in central Queensland for the supply of a new PF4-1532 Stageloader, SK11/18 Crusher and Bootend. These will be supplied in May 2002. In conjunction with DBT’s New South Wales head office, the DBT Queensland Customer Service Centre in Mackay will carry out a full re-hand of the mines existing maingate drive and also upgrade the drive by supplying an additional drive CST gearbox and 855 kW motor.

In other MIM mine-related news, DBT said the Sydney Customer Service Centre is currently busy assembling the AFC drives, BSL, Crusher, Bootend and Monorail Equipment for the Oaky No. 1 Project. The Compatibility Trial is due to take place in Mackay in early December.

DBT Argenton has recently received an order from Gibson Colliery in Wollongong (see related news article). The first 488 Un-a-Trac (scoop) in a two machine order was delivered to Thin Seam Mining in late October.

“The machines will operate in a seam height of 1.2 m and are being modified to suit this requirement. These two machines will be the second and third battery scoops supplied into Australia. The Scoops are general purpose utility vehicles specifically designed for efficient roadway maintenance,” said the DBT spokesperson.
