This makes the 75% MIM owned and operated mine in central Queensland the first Australian longwall operation to break through the 6 Mtpa mark.

The mine produced a total of 6.344 million tonnes for the period, beating the previous record of 5.19 Mt which Crinum produced during the corresponding period in 2000. In the 12 month period ending June 2001, Oaky North also broke previous records with its 5.572Mt ROM result. The mine’s latest result is over 700,000t better than its fiscal year result.

Full stats to be published on ILN on March 4 and full analysis in the March 2002 edition of Australia’s Longwalls.
