The northern province exported 8.48 million tons of coal in the first half of the year, up 12% on 2002’s June quarter, Business Daily reported.

Coal exports rose significantly, up almost US$10 million from 2002 first half figures to US$237.83 for the first half of the year.

The province set an export record in June, exporting 1.8 million tons, Business Daily said.
