The 12th International Conference on Coal Science was hosted by the Australian Institute of Energy, the International Energy Agency and the IEA Clean Coal Centre.
A speaker at the conference, CEO of the Cooperative Research Centre for Coal in Sustainable Development Frank van Schagen said the conference reinforced Australia’s international profile in clean coal technologies research.
Speakers highlighted the changing world perceptions towards coal and the need for coal science to respond to this change with research directed at low emission technologies.
The 3rd Japan-Australia Coal Research workshop was held in Cairns following the conference to foster the development of future collaborative clean coal technology projects.
