Design work for the bogie frames, part of GE Transportation's contract with the Chinese Ministry, has already begun at Goninan's design facility in Broadmeadow, New South Wales, with manufacturing to start in Taree (NSW) next year.
United Goninan said the bogie frames would be delivered throughout 2006.
United Group chief executive officer Richard Leupen said heightened Asian infrastructure spending was opening up new investment opportunities in the region.
"China is one market that will offer significant opportunity to United Group as we position ourselves to participate in this infrastructure investment," he said.
"This contract continues to strengthen our long-term and successful relationship with GE Transportation."
The deal takes United Goninan's order book in Asia past $70 million.
