Smooth ride for Flexco belts

Now available in one R5½ and two R6 sizes, the updates join earlier R5 models.

US-based Flexco said the larger units featured a lower-profile, which made them easier to install, and provided a smoother passage under the belt cleaners and a longer splice life.

The new scalloped edge design also included a leading/trailing edge in a concave shape, with a more prominent coining (bevelling). This allowed the fastener plate end to be embed much deeper into the belt cover, with reduced effort.

“With deeper installation, plus the scallop and coining to reduce the initial leading-edge contract area, this design invites belt scraper blades to ramp up and over the plates easily, without encountering any hard edge impact,” Flexco said.

The R5½ and R6 sizes were also available in a low-chrome, stainless steel alloy, affording better corrosion, abrasion and wear resistance.

Flexco unveiled several new products last year at 2004 MINExpo International at Las Vegas, Nevada, including the Flexco R9S rivet-hinged conveyor belt fasteners for demanding applications and high belt widths, and the Power Set rivet driver tool for portable and quick work on routine rivet installation.

Flexco, headquartered near Chicago, Illinois, services the world's belt conveyors through subsidiaries operating in California, Michigan, Mexico, England, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Founded in 1907 and certified under ISO-9001:2000 International Standards for quality management, the company markets its broad line of products through a worldwide network of distributors, under the brand names Flexco, Alligator, Clipper and Tatch-A-Cleat.
