Over the next several days, the mine will work up to full production levels once again as repair work is done by mine crews.
The Buchanan mine, near Keen Mountain, was sealed in February after a cave-in behind the longwall equipment ignited methane that is believed to have started a fire. Mine rescue teams began their examination of the mine in May following a re-ventilation process.
The 400-strong team at Buchanan mine produces some 4.4 million tons of metallurgical coal annually for its US and international customers.
