Xstrata Coal’s Beltana operation in New South Wales produced 6.234 million tonnes ROM production for the year ended June 2005.

The output was a new record for the mine, and 8% better than its performance last year.

In the September edition of Australian Longwall Magazine the output was reported to be a little below the mine’s goal of 6.4Mt. This was in fact incorrect as the output for the fiscal year was actually 789,000t ahead of budget.

The mine is chasing an output of 7Mt for the 2005 calendar year, a target well within its grasp.
