The move is part of a statewide advertising blitz aimed at school leavers to address skills shortages being experienced by the minerals and energy sector.
The promotion, which also includes prominent city billboard and newspaper advertising, offers links to careers information and details of more than 300 resource sector scholarships for school leavers intending to pursue university studies next year.
These include up to four scholarships valued at $40,000 each over four years offered by the Queensland Resources Council.
“The campaign targets students who want science or engineering-related careers, as these are areas of significant shortage for the sector,” QRC chief executive Michael Roche said.
“It will run through to mid-January and create awareness of the many great careers available in the industry at a time when students’ minds are turned to their future.”
The promotion is part of the QRC’s Get a Life careers awareness campaign launched in May.
