Operations manager Greg Smith said he is not concerned that there are 18 ships waiting to berth for loading and another 13 off the port waiting for coal to arrive from Bowen Basin mines, ABC Online reported.

Smith said some of the ships were already waiting for coal from mines experiencing production problems before the rain fell, but the wet weather has compounded the problem.

“We know that we did suffer from significant rail interruptions, which would have been a combination of rain on the rail system and also delays in the minesites themselves," he said.
