The unique Eliminator is made in one single manufacturing process resulting in a superior integral product, with a fully formed high strength threaded end yielding more than 8 tonnes termination and large mixing vanes at the dowel tip.

The patented mixing vanes are designed to eliminate “gloving”, the most common problem related to all types of resin-encapsulated dowels. This is achieved by piercing the two-part capsule and forcing the capsule casing down to the back of the pre-drilled hole.

In this way, the tough flexible plastic capsule casing which cannot be shredded, also cannot migrate up the shank of the dowel to cause “gloving” and subsequent failure, Applied Research said.

The Eliminator dowel is being offered in very high torque and high-density versions, with UTS strengths from 15-30t, at no increase in cost over the current range of AROA dowels.

Accessories include a new patented torque nut to simplify installation. The rear hexagon shears off the nut body at a pre-determined torque setting, thus preventing damage to the dowel by over-tightening.

The new dowel can be installed as a threaded or a thrust dowel – whichever suits the equipment and situation at each minesite. It is currently being trialled in several Queensland and New South Wales mines.
