The newly named division will join P&H Mining Equipment and Joy Mining Machinery as one of Joy Global's three business segments. Terry Nicola will serve as president of the entity.
The name change stemmed from Joy's decision to include its Stamler surface crushers and underground feeder breakers as part of the Continental Crushing and Conveying division. While a force in the industry, Continental had previously been known for its bulk material handling solutions for both mining and industrial applications.
“Continental products complement Joy and P&H products," Joy Global president Michael Sutherlin said.
“Together we can offer our customers a complete solution for cutting, crushing and conveying material for both underground and surface applications.”
Joy said in January the purchase was part of a strategy to acquire companies with related and highly synergistic product lines. The $270 million deal closed last week.
“We expect to realise significant revenue growth and margin improvement opportunities from Continental," Sutherlin said at the time of the closure.
“We will use our very strong aftermarket infrastructure and life cycle management programs around the world to support the Continental conveyor equipment and add value by improving the reliability of the entire system of equipment from the cutting face to the processing or loading facility."
