Scheduled for April 29 and 30 in Cagliari, Sardinia, the event will look at developing strategies on a country-specific basis for projects in coal mine methane development and implementation.
“This meeting will be an excellent opportunity to share ideas and directly influence near- and long-term work of the Coal Subcommittee," the partnership said.
The group will receive an overview of the Administrative Support Group, including an update report from the group's Partnership Expo held last year and plans for the next one to be held this year.
It will also formally schedule the next meeting of the Methane to Markets steering committee meeting and discuss accomplishments made by the group to date. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to review guidance documents for its country-specific strategies in the promotion of coal mine methane projects.
“Each country will present a brief overview of their progress in developing country-specific strategies and/or their plans to contribute towards developing or implementing plans for other countries," the organisers said, noting that the ASG will present feedback collected from Project Network members after each presentation.
The European Commission will also report on a climate change strategy for Europe through the year 2020 at the event. A methane recovery and use project at the CarboSulcis SpA coal mining facility has been scheduled for those interested.
Methane to Markets Partnership countries include Australia, China, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.
