According to a Reuters report, a fire broke out in the mine, owned and operated by Russian mining company Trust Arctikugol, on Thursday.

Thirty-one miners were working underground at the time of the fire, but 29 managed to escape unhurt.

Last reports stated the fire was under control but was not completely extinguished.
