Evolving from the proven Lokset resin capsule, the Supamix builds on the breakthroughs Minova has achieved in the past with benefits to handling, efficiency and the ability to pre-tension in one capsule.

Minova said the Lokset Supamix series provided a consistent performance where variable conditions such as bolt hole diameter, spin revolutions per minute and feed rate are encountered.

“The new series offers easier bolt penetration and significantly improved mixing throughout the full bolt length ensuring both resin and hardener components are consistently and effectively combined together," the company said.

Other benefits include a lower cost formulation, and an extended shelf life from four months to six months, which the company says will give customers greater utilisation and flexibility with their Lokset resin capsule usage.

The new series has been tested at Minova’s Nowra-based in-house test facility which allowed a full-scale simulation and testing of installed bolts, using coal and metal mining industry standard drill rigs.

Minova said it had sought and obtained extensive industry input in the development of the new resin capsules which it combined with the input from the test facility to finetune the product.

The existing Lokset range of capsules will continue to be available, with individual customers and strata conditions dictating the system most applicable.

Customer trials of the new Lokset Supamix series have now commenced at mines in New South Wales and Queensland.

Development of a new Minova bolt, scheduled for completion in the second half of 2008, will complement the new Lokset Supamix resin capsules.

“This exciting new development in the Minova range, together with the acquisition of leading metal mine bolt supplier Strata Control Systems, strengthens Minova’s commitment both to the Australian mining industry and to being a complete provider of quality strata support products," the company said.
