The division, to be known as Specialised Mining Vehicles (SMV), brings together suppliers of customised diesel machines including brands such as Juganaut, Drift Runner, Brumby, Predator and SMV.
The new entity will continue to employ more than 160 people including 30 apprentices from workshops in Rutherford, Tomago, Wollongong, Mackay and Emerald.
Diesel division manager Mark Clarence said the move will bring real and tangible benefits to customers.
“SMV will now offer a more diverse service to both national and international customers,” he said.
“We will be integrating existing strengths in production, service and spare parts, overhauls and customised solutions in all the markets where we now have a presence.
“SMV will also now have access to Valley Longwall International's Engineering and Design Centre to stay ahead of competitors in research and development.
“We will also benefit from the full weight of the company's robust OH&S systems and compliance regimes.”
The new combined division also brings together a large hire fleet of more than 68 pieces of equipment, designed to minimise downtime for customers.
Clarence said the hire fleet can quickly plug any holes in a client's business and minimise interruptions, with certain equipment available at very short notice.
There will also be a national approach to training to ensure every office has the expertise across the division's product range.
“Customers will benefit from the backup and support available from the combined group. For example, our field service capability will double in size, with expertise shared across the group,” Clarence said.
“It will also be easier to set up new bases in the future so we can always operate close to our customers’ operations.
“We will also be able to spread the workload across the network to further improve response times."
The new team is made up of diesel division manager Mark Clarence, Rutherford operations manager David Cook, Tomago operations manager Neville Enright, Mackay operations manager Chad Dillinger, Emerald operations manager Brad Hughes and SME hire fleet manager Penny Morgan.
The new division will operate from July 1.
