For individuals, MISC will award this year’s best coal trainee, metalliferous trainee, extractive trainee, drilling trainee and processing trainee.

Excellence in Training awards are also up for grabs and this year MISC has unveiled a new award for Apprentice of the Year.

The Best Training Processes and Practices awards have three separate categories: registered training organisations, small to medium-sized companies, and medium-sized to large companies.

Nominations are also open for MISC’s innovation awards, with one going to workforce planning and the other to workforce development.

All nominations must be in by close of business on June 5 and can be made online.

A booklet detailing the nomination criteria is available, while more details on the awards are expected soon on the MISC website.

MISC’s Training Awards Dinner will be held on September 25 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Last year Brad Watson from BHP Mitsubishi Alliance’s Gregory Crinum mine picked up the Coal Trainee of the Year award, while Kym Frost from BMA’s Peak Downs mine won the Individual Award for Excellence in Training.
