Stanmore is gunning for a large coking coal deposit at Mackenzie River, while targeting the pulverised coal injection coal of the Rangal coal measures at the New Cambria project.

It is exploring for resources to support open cut operations at both projects.

Stanmore plans to perform a detailed geological review of its underground projects in the Bowen Basin during the next six months in advance of field programs.

It is targeting high-quality underground coking coal at the Belview project 10km southeast of Blackwater, while looking for shallow underground thermal coal at the Emerald project.

At the Kerlong project about 19km northeast of Moranbah, consisting of one permit and two permit applications, Stanmore is hunting for good-quality PCI and coking coal.

The Ironpot Creek project 80km northeast of Emerald is targeting underground semi-soft coal.

Stanmore boosted its exploration portfolio with the acquisition of Comet Coal & Coke in September and holds 11 granted exploration permits, including 10 in the Bowen Basin.

Since an over-subscribed listing in the second week of December, Stanmore’s debut 15-hole drilling program at the Range has hit coal intersections mostly exceeding 5m and at depths of less than 80m.

Stanmore shares are up half a cent to 86.5c this morning, 66.5c higher than the issue price last year.
