The cleaning blade has a polyurethane blend and tungsten carbide tip to provide service life for mines that is 2-3 times that of traditional urethane blades.

No break-in period is needed for the product, as the design allows it to begin cleaning immediately.

The QC #1 MT Pre-Cleaner can be run with just semi-annual re-tensioning in most applications – the design maintains constant tension without the need for frequent adjustments.

Martin Engineering officials said the pre-cleaner was ideal for vulcanized belts with no mechanical splices.

The product can be used at belt speeds of up to 900 feet per minute (4.6 meters per second).

“The heavy-duty blade is well suited for wet, sticky material applications,” the company said.

“There is no limitation to the type of material on which it can be used.”

The pre-cleaner possesses the same mounting design, dimensions and tensioning pressures as the QC #1 Heavy-Duty Pre-Cleaner.

The new QC #1 MT fits both one and three-piece mainframes using spring and twist tensioners.

Similar to other products in the QC #1 belt cleaner line, the new release has the Quick Change one-pin blade replacement.

The QC #1 MT is installed on the face of the head pulley so that product can be reintroduced into the flow.

With a dual cleaner system, the product is installed just before the secondary cleaner, and the company recommends that steel inspection doors be installed in applications where chutework is incorporated.

In addition to coal, Martin Engineering’s cleaners are used in the handling of other items including rock/aggregate, grain, cement, wood chips, pellets and others.

Martin has manufacturing, sales and service facilities in Brazil, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa, Turkey and the UK and has licensees in Australia, Chile and Canada.

It announced its acquisition of industrial vibrator manufacturer Cougar Industries in late May; the Cougar name will be retained and its Peru, Illinois headquarters has become one of Martin’s divisions.
