A Centennial spokeswoman said those first to the vehicle immediately began CPR, called the control room for support and were assisted by colleagues to bring their unresponsive colleague to the surface.

"Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of colleagues and emergency services he was unable to be revived," she said.

"We extend our most sincere condolences to his family at this very sad time, who are presently being supported by company personnel."

"Our immediate focus will be on the welfare of the family, our Springvale and broader workforce."

The NSW Minerals Council said it extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of the mine worker who tragically passed away at Springvale mine.

"Our thoughts are also with friends, colleagues, and everyone affected by this very sad event," NSW MC said in a statement.
