Parry, who formerly held the position of Centennial deputy CEO, has more than 30 years' experience in the Australian mining industry as a qualified accountant.

He has worked for American and Japanese multinational companies and also Australian and Thailand stock exchange-listed companies in the oil and gas industry and since 1989 in the coal and power industry.

In Parry's most recent role he oversaw the finance, marketing and logistics, legal, risk and compliance functions across the Centennial group.

His role prior in 2015-2016 was the chief financial officer of Centennial parent company Banpu Public Company Limited, based in Bangkok, and listed on the Thailand stock exchange.

Prior to Parry's move to Bangkok he held various finance related roles at Centennial, where he oversaw the company's growth from a market capitalisation of $25 million in 1996 to $2.5 billion, when it was acquired by Banpu in 2010.

Parry said he looked forward to continuing to build on Centennial's strengths to meet the challenges of the changing coal and energy markets.

During Cairney's 31-year career at Centennial he managed four of Centennial's mines, headed up Health, Safety, Environment and Community across the group and was executive general manager of operations before being appointed managing director and CEO in 2017.

Centennial director and Banpu chairman Chanin Vongkusolkit thanked Cairney for his contribution to the company over 31 years.
